Field trials were conducted in 1984-86 in 2 locations in the Weser-Ems region where the risk of fungicide tolerant strs of E. graminis was high. In autumn sown barley, azol or morpholin derivatives were equally effective against mildew. The main influencing factors were the type of compound used, the application date and degree of infection as well as crop species and cultivar. A combination of compounds seemed to be preferable.
