Abstract
A simple model for the electron transport chain that takes into account the turnover times and their dispersion and the dependence on the kind of illumination was used to calculate photosynthetic light curves for continuous and intermittent light. Comparing the results with experimental values from a chloroplast suspension, the turnover time, the number of co-operating electron transport chains and conditions time, the number of co-operating electron transport chains and conditions for an energy saving artificial illumination of greenhouse cultivations were obtained.
