The hay yield of some herbage crops and their mixtures with different sowing methods under irrigated conditions at Erzurum

Doga, Turk Tarm ve Ormanclk Dergisi 12(1): 24-36

In field trials in 1974-79 with Medicago sativa, Trifolium pratense, Bromus inermis, Dactylis glomerata and Agropyron elongatum sown singly or in grass/legume mixtures either broadcast or in rows 15, 30 or 45 cm apart, the highest hay yields were obtained in rows 30 cm apart. Av. hay yield for all species grown alone was 4.17 t/ha compared with 5.81 t in mixtures. In the 1st 4 years, highest yields were associated with T. pratense but in the last 2 years with M. sativa.
