The regional economic impact of tourism and recreation in national parks

The regional economic impact of tourism and recreation in national parks

Environment and Planning, B 13(2): 349-366

A review of the quantitative findings of 29 regional economic impact studies showed a surprising commonality in regional multiplier estimates in the range 1.25-1.89. This is despite wide diversity in the location, context and methodology of the studies. The second section of the paper is a case study of Cooloola National Park, Australia.
