The secondary economic effects of tourism in developing countries

Tourism generates considerable secondary economic activity in a destination country. The initial expenditure by tourists seeps through the economy, creating additional business revenue, household income, employment, government revenue and imports. The magnitude of these gains can be measured by the use of techniques such as input-output analysis and adapted multiplier models.
