The National Resource Conservation Section of Environment Canada-Parks has developed and implemented an extensive resources inventory programme for all national parks, some national historic parks and some heritage canals. This study reviews the current use and effectiveness of resource inventories, research and databanks in the park planning and management process. Findings from 6 case studies are discussed.
