Abstract
For North Caucasus Mutton-Wool (NCMW) X Caucasian, Soviet Mutton-Wool (SMW) X Caucasian, NCMW X (SMW X Caucasian), SMW X (SMW X Caucasian), and Caucasian ewes (53-361 per group), body weight at approx. 1 yr of age averaged 34.9, 35.0, 35.0, 34.7 and 34.4 kg resp., staple length 10.1, 9.5, 11.0, 10.6 and 7.8 cm, clean wool weight 1.97, 1.76, 1.87, 1.77 and 1.66 kg, and the percentage of animals with wool quality 64s-70s 26, 37, 15, 23 and 87. Consumption of FU/kg gain to 9 months of age averaged 8.2, 7.8, 8.8, 8.4 and 10.5 in the 5 groups.
