Countryside Commission News (25): 4-5



Approximately two-thirds of cycle owners hardly ever use their bicycles in the UK. This indicates a hugh latent potential which, experience has shown, can be tapped by providing traffic-free routes. In the last 8 years, the Countryside Commission has been involved in supporting cycle routes both in and into the countryside. Some local authorities have also begun to make provision for cycle routes.
