Thinning of seed meadows by stripe application of glyphosate using a rope wick

Thinning of seed meadows by stripe application of glyphosate using a rope wick

Nordisk Jordbrugsforskning 68(4): 547

This paper was presented at the Nordiske Jordbrugsforskeres Forening Seminar No. 91, on forage plant seed production, held at Malmo, Sweden in 1986. In 17 field trials in 1981-85, the use of 0.5-1.0 kg glyphosate/ha, applied with a ropewick in stripes, for thinning seed crops of Phleum pratense, Festuca rubra, F. pratensis and Poa pratensis was evaluated. In 5 of the trials, mechanical thinning with rotary or tine harrows was compared with herbicide application.
