Thoughts on apple tree training: Solen, a new form

Thoughts on apple tree training: Solen, a new form

Arboriculture Fruitiere 34(399): 45-48

Solen, a low domed form of training, is described and illustrated. It was conceived to facilitate access (harvesting and pruning being the most expensive operations) and is orientated towards cultivars capable of regulating their own fruit set from year to year, producing even-sized fruits of high quality. It is based on the physiological advantages of a vertical axis.
