Three years experience of using a warning system to predict the times of attack by the cabbage root fly (Delia radicum)

Three years experience of using a warning system to predict the times of attack by the cabbage root fly (Delia radicum)

Bulletin SROP 9(1): 77-88

A warning system, which has been used to predict attacks by the anthomyiid Delia radicum on cabbages in Denmark for 3 years, is described. Growers report the numbers of eggs collected in traps on a twice-weekly basis and warnings for the start of the attacks by the 1st and 2nd generation are published. There was a difference of 5-7 days in the time egg-laying started in different areas in Denmark.
