Time-course changes of plasma lipid levels and lipoprotein pattern after feeding in cultured sea bass, Dicentrarchus labrax L

For 2 weeks 1000 hatchery-reared sea bass, mean wet body weight 27.5 g, were freely fed on dry pellets following 24 h of starvation. Blood samples were taken from 10 fish at 0, 3, 6, 12, 24, 48 and 72 h after feeding. During the experiment water temperature increased from 14.3 degrees to 15.2 degrees C. Plasma non-esterified fatty acid concentration increased rapidly after feeding whereas triglycerides reached a maximum concentration 24 h later.
