Time-dependent and sorption deformation in calculation of wooden beam deflections

An account is given of changes in creep in samples of spruce (20x20x500 mm) in permanent loading and exposed to outside climate for 21 700 h. Results showed that desorption caused an increase in deflection and a decrease in MOE, while adsorption caused a decrease in deflection and increase in MOE.
