Timing of a lighting period for Easter lily bulbs prior to forcing

Timing of a lighting period for Easter lily bulbs prior to forcing

HortScience 22(2): 316

Non-sprouted and non-cooled bulbs of Lilium longiflorum Ace were potted on 1 October. The control bulbs were potted below the soil surface (standard practice) whereas the test bulbs were half-exposed. The control bulbs were held in the greenhouse under natural daylength. Individual lots of half-exposed bulbs received either no light or 3.6 mu mol.s-1.m-2 incandescent light for a 18/24 h cycle during the first, second or third 2-week period of 6 weeks' storage at 7.2 degrees C.
