Timing of buprofezin application for control of the brown planthopper, Nilaparvata lugens Stal (Homoptera: Delphacidae)

Field studies were conducted in Japan in 1979-81 to estimate the optimal timing for the application of buprofezin, a moulting-inhibiting insect growth regulator, to control Nilaparvata lugens on rice. Buprofezin was applied at various times of nymphal development during August and September. Its effect was assessed by the percentage reduction in density of nymphs after treatment.
