Timing the application of deltamethrin and cypermethrin for the control of insect pests of cowpea Vigna unguiculata (L.) Walp

Deltamethrin at 12.5 g a.i./ha and cypermethrin at 50 g a.i./ha were applied 3 times from 35 days after planting (dap) at varying intervals to cowpea (Vigna unguiculata) var. Ife Brown in early- and late-season crops in Nigeria in 1981. Damage to flowers and pods by Maruca testulalis was greatest when the last 2 applications were made at 56 and 63 dap.
