Tinea pedis caused by Hendersonula toruloidea

Tinea pedis caused by Hendersonula toruloidea

Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology 16(5 part 2): 1111-1114

A case in a 46-yr-old man is reported. The patient presented with chronic, hyperkeratotic, recalcitrant tinea pedis. Except for 2 yr in Alaska, the patient had never lived outside the state of Louisiana, USA. H. toruloidea was the only organism isolated from skin scrapings. Previous treatment with griseofulvin and treatment with 1% bifonazole cream for 4 weeks were both ineffective. The patient did not respond to further treatment with a variety of topical antifungal preparations.
