The present generation of African women in the urban areas, whether educated professionals, or semi- or uneducated, and whether married or single, are caught up in the twin objectives of procreation and the achievement of economic security for themselves and their families. In pursuing the economic objective, African women fail to provide their children with the informal home education which moulds their character.
