Two types of in vitro assays (enzyme immunoassay and sero-neutralization test) were compared for their ability to detect antibodies to rinderpest virus in field sera from West African cattle. Purified virus grown on Vero cells (Ag/Vero) or bovine kidney cells (Ag/BK), were tested as antigen in enzyme-linked immunoassays (EIA).
