Pollination and fruit set in the presence and in the absence of honeybees during flowering in gherkins (cv. Kora), melons (cv. Cantaloup Jivaro, F1 hybrid) and tomatoes (cv. Fandango, F1 hybrid) were studied in glasshouse experiments. In gherkins, the presence of honeybees increased fruit set from 3% to 92%, total fruit weight/plant from 38 g to 169 g and mean number of fruits/plant from 2.4 to 8.65.
