Vertical distribution of nitrification potential in an acid forest soil

Vertical distribution of nitrification potential in an acid forest soil

Soil Biology and Biochemistry 20(3): 405-406

Soil cores were taken from a coniferous forest soil and divided into strata 1 cm thick characterized by depth and pedological nature. For each sample, the nitrification potential was determined for the organic strata by incubating 2-5 g fresh material in the dark for 48 h at 20 degrees C in 150 ml plasma flasks sealed with parafilm.
