A method of estimation of leaf area in castor (Ricinus communis L.)

Based on measurements of leaf length, leaf width and dry weight of leaf discs in 9 genotypes, a mean leaf constant of 0.516 was calculated. By multiplying leaf length, leaf width and the leaf constant, the estimated leaf area was determined; this showed a close correlation (r = 0.99) with actual leaf area.
