A method to determine oxygen partial pressure and oxygen diffusion in individual aggregates as a function of soil moisture tension

, : A method to determine oxygen partial pressure and oxygen diffusion in individual aggregates as a function of soil moisture tension. Zeitschrift fur Pflanzenernahrung und Bodenkunde 153(1): 5-10

In order to monitor oxygen partial pressure in soil aggregated of different texture as a function of soil matrix potential, an oxygen sensitive microelectrode with a tip diameter of 0.5 mm, sturdy enough to be used in sandy soils was developed. Individual water saturated soil aggregates were fitted with a microtensiometer (tip diameter <0.5 mm) and an oxygen microelectrode. Soil water potential and oxygen partial pressure were monitored during dehydration.
