A non-traditional possibility for obtaining caraway oil (Oleum carvi)

A non-traditional possibility for obtaining caraway oil (Oleum carvi)

Sbornik UVTIZ, Zahradnictvi 15(2): 107-111

Growth, essential oil content and oil components were studied in the whole aerial part and in the seeds of the Carum carvi cultivars Rekord and Alfa. The plants were sampled at weekly intervals from June to Aug. and the oil was extracted by steam distillation. Differences in the total oil content, and the content of carvone increased during the season and that of limonene decreased.
