A note on effect of reclamation through marginal embankments on coastal ecosystem of Sunderban

A note on effect of reclamation through marginal embankments on coastal ecosystem of Sunderban

Journal of the Indian Society of Coastal Agricultural Research 5(1): 39-41

Reclamation was started in 1770 by the East India Company by construction of marginal embankments. This caused siltation and closure of some rivers, and acute drainage congestion. Soils have become more saline and acidity has developed.
