A note on evaluation of buffalo-sires

A note on evaluation of buffalo-sires

Indian Journal of Dairy Science 41(4): 500-501

Records of 305-day 1st lactation milk yields of 185 buffaloes, the progeny of 28 sires with <more or =>3 daughters each, were used to compare the following 3 methods of sire evaluation: (i) least-square means taking into consideration effect of yr and season of calving; (ii) sire index of Jain & Malhotra (Indian Journal of Animal Science (1971) 41, 1101); and (iii) best linear unbiased predictor technique of Henderson (Biometrics (1975) 31, 423).
