A note on susceptibility of sapota varieties and hybrids to leaf spot disease (Phaeophleospora indica Chinnappa)

A natural epiphytotic of P. indica that occurred at Periyakulam in 1987 was used to screen 12 sapota varieties and 4 hybrids for resistance. No lesions were observed on Cricket Ball and Guthi which were rated as tolerant. However, hybrids from reciprocal crosses involving these parents were slightly less resistant.
