A novel method of vaccination using parasite membrane antigens

A novel method of vaccination using parasite membrane antigens

Leishmania: The current status and new strategies for control Proceedings of a NATO Advanced Study Institute on leishmaniasis: The first centenary 1885-1985, new strategies for control, Zakinthos, Greece, 20-27 September 1987: 359-366

The plasma membrane glycoprotein gp63 and glycoconjugate excreted factor (EF) antigens of Leishmania mexicana promastigotes were reconstituted into liposomes and inoculated into CBA/Ca and BALB/c mice. Inoculated mice showed significant levels of resistance to homologous and heterologous (L. major, L. donovani) challenge.
