Investigations in the USSR have shown that Schizaphis graminum is a very suitable host for rearing Aphidius matricariae, an effective parasitoid of the green peach aphid The methods used to grow the cereal substrate, and to the rear the host on this substrate and likewise the parasitoid on the hosts obtained, are described, as are also the dynamics of development of the parasitoid population in the laboratory and (briefly) the mode of storage of the mummified hosts (parasitoid cocoons).
