A partial study of purine metabolism in the liver of pigs

A partial study of purine metabolism in the liver of pigs

Uber den Purinstoffwechsel der Leber des Schweines: 85

Liver and kidney were taken from 10 freshly slaughtered pigs for study of purine metabolism in vitro. Uric acid transport into the liver cell was examined in liver slices with ric acid. The Michaelis constant (Km) and maximum velocity (Vmax) were used to characterize uricase in liver homogenate, and uric acid was estimated in kidney homogenate. Nucleotide metabolites were estimated in urine of the slaughtered pigs and in plasma of 12 starved pigs.
