A phospho-oligosaccharide synthase in developing maize endosperms

A phospho-oligosaccharide synthase in developing maize endosperms

Plant molecular biology Proceedings of a NATO Advanced Study Institute, 10-19 June, 1987, Carlsberg Lab, Copenhagen, Denmark: 327-337

The enzyme, which was extracted from developing maize endosperm, mediated the synthesis of short chain phospho-oligosaccharides, in which the phosphate groups were mainly linked to glucose at the C6 position. These acted as primer molecules to which glucose molecules were added by starch synthases. The enzyme was part of a multi-enzyme complex and used Glc-1-phosphate as substrate.
