A preliminary evaluation of an industrial single cell protein in practical diets for tilapia (Oreochromis mossambicus Peters)

A 56-day feeding trial was conducted with juvenile tilapia, to evaluate an industrial single cell protein (Eurolysine Fodder Protein; EFP) as an alternative component to fish meal in complete diets. A control diet without EFP served as a reference from which inclusion levels of 5, 10, 15 and 20% EFP were investigated by the replacement of fish meal. Diets were of equal crude protein and digestible energy values. EFP successfully replaced up to 40% of the fish meal in the practical diet.
