A preliminary report on the effect of PP333 on shoot growth and fruit setting of orange

Citrus unshiu trees were treated with PP333 by application to the soil at 2, 4 or 6 g/tree, or by foliar spray at 1000, 1500 or 2000 p.p.m. when the new shoots were 2-3 cm long. Shoot lengths of treated trees were 67.2, 59.8 and 50.9%, and 68.3, 62.9 and 62.2% of those in controls, respectively. Mean leaf areas were 15.1, 13.7 and 12.1 cmsuperscript 2, and 16.8, 14.9 and 12.7 cmsuperscript 2, respectively, compared with 22 cmsuperscript 2 in the controls.
