A preliminary study of artificial infection with coccidia

A preliminary study of artificial infection with coccidia

Chinese Journal of Rabbit Farming (2): 28-30

3 groups of rabbits were artificially infected with sporulated oocysts of Eimeria spp. 2 groups were infected with intestinal and hepatic Eimeria spp. (6 to 7 x 104 oocysts/100 g bwt) or with intestinal Eimeria spp. (3 to 5 x 104 oocysts/100 g bwt). Mortality rates were 60-75 and 70-100%, respectively. A 3rd group was infected with E. stiedai (5 x 104 oocysts/100 g bwt); pathological changes in the liver were more severe and the course of infection was longer than in the other 2 groups.
