A preliminary study on a predacious insect, Brumoides lineatus (Weise)

A preliminary study on a predacious insect, Brumoides lineatus (Weise)

Insect Knowledge 25(2): 105-108

Brumoides lineatus, a predator of Aphis glycines, Planococcus citri and other insect pests, was studied in the laboratory and field in China in 1980-82. The morphology of the adult, egg, larva and nymph is described and illustrated. The coccinellid had 1-4 generations a year and overwintered in the adult stage on weeds near to streams and ponds or on the ridges of fields. The predator became active in March and oviposition occurred mainly in mid-April to mid-August.
