A preliminary study on the bionomics of Lamprosema indicata Fabricius

Insect Knowledge 25(2): 81-84

The biology of the pyralid Lamprosema indicata an important insect pest of soyabean in South China, was studied in Hunan in 1981-85. The morphology of the adult, egg, larva and pupae is described. The pest had 6 generations a year in the Dongting Lake area. The adult females of the 6th generation were abnormally developed, with underdeveloped ovaries. The number of eggs laid by each female ranged from 54.8 to 334.9, and oviposition lasted for 1.8-5.8 days depending on food availability.
