A simple rearing method of Piezodorus hybneri Gmelin and Riptortus clavatus Thunberg (Hemiptera: Pentatomidae, Alydidae), supplying dried seeds

A simple method for mass rearing the soyabean pests Piezodorus hybneri and Riptortus clavatus was established by improving the method described by Kobayashi (1978). The water source was removed from the rearing container in the new system and water was supplied from the top or bottom of the container through filter paper. This decreased the mortality of nymphs by drowning and water could be changed more easily than in the former method.
