A study of two systems of producing a milk quota

A systems study from April 1984 to March 1988 investigated the physical and financial performance achieved from 2 methods for producing a 400 000 litre milk quota. Unit 1 was a high-concentrate system with an alternative enterprise and Unit 2 was a low-concentrate system. Both herds were allocated 38.9 ha of grassland with similar soil types, grass varieties and fertilizer input. Unit 1 and Unit 2 had 65 and 75 cows with 16 and 19 replacement units, resp.
