A study on the mycotoxin isolated from sunflower (Helianthus annus (L.))

Freshly harvested and stored sunflower seeds contained 1 micro g/g and 2.2 micro g/g aflatoxin, respectively. On artificial inoculation, the time required for max. aflatoxin production was 15 d in both samples and aflatoxin content was 37.80 and 40.65 micro g/g, respectively. Oil content of fresh, stored and inoculated samples was estimated and it was found that with an increase in aflatoxin content there was a decrease in oil content.
