Against all odds: breaking the poverty trap

Against all odds: breaking the poverty trap

Against all odds: breaking the poverty trap: iv + 186pp.

The book provides case studies of 9 development projects in Asia and Africa, largely supported by non-governmental organizations, which are acting as important engines of change. In India, women pavement dwellers in Bombay designed and built their own low-cost houses through the Society for Promotion of Area Resource Centres, while Mahiti has helped women in a remote salt-ridden village in Gujarat to develop their community and stop migration to the city.
