Agricultural development and extension in Africa: considerations regarding some Sahel countries

, : Agricultural development and extension in Africa: considerations regarding some Sahel countries. QA, Questione Agraria ( 38): 35-57

The adoption of new technologies has increased crop yields in the Sahel and led to a rise in agricultural production. At the same time, it has been the cause of soil exhaustion and of accentuated disparities among the rural population. The paper emphasizes the role that technological innovations can play, when their use is adapted to local conditions and disseminated by appropriate means, for overcoming present problems and barriers to agricultural development.
