Agricultural policy and the evolution of agriculture in Italy
The main development trends in Italian agriculture and agricultural policy from the Unification of Italy to the present are discussed. Certain recurrent motifs in the evolution can be traced. There also emerge certain specific characteristics which have had importance at different moments and in different ways. Events in Italian agriculture have obviously been affected by those in the economy in general, and those regarding agricultural policy by the economic policy of the country as a whole.
