Agricultural research expenditure in Italy is shared equally between public organizations and the private sector. The two main publicly-funded research bodies are Consiglio Nazionale delle Richerche (CNR) and Ente Nazionale Energie Alternative (ENEA). The allocation of funds among different research activities is discussed.
