An economic analysis of vegetation management on the National Forests in Mississippi, Ouachita National Forest and the Chattahoochee National Forest

An economic analysis of vegetation management on the National Forests in Mississippi, Ouachita National Forest and the Chattahoochee National Forest

Technical Publication Southern Region, USDA Forest Service (R8-TP 10): ii + 17

Site preparation techniques for control of broadleaved competition with young pine seedlings were compared on National Forests in Mississippi, Georgia and Arkansas. A range of estimates of percentage of broadleaved basal area expected at crown closure, percentage of competition control expected for a given effort and costs of implementation were obtained from personnel in each forest. Most methods surpassed the 4% real return required by the Forest Service.
