Anastomosis grouping of Rhizoctonia solani Kuhn causing sheath blight in forage crops and summer blight in herbage

Anastomosis grouping of Rhizoctonia solani Kuhn causing sheath blight in forage crops and summer blight in herbage

Sochi Shikenjo Kenkyu Hokoku = Bulletin of the National Grassland Research Institute (39): 50-55

The most frequently isolated strs from diseased tissues of maize, sorghum, orchardgrass Italian ryegrass, finger millet lucerne, red clover, white clover and rice were of anastomosis group 1 (AG-1), accounting for 78% of all the isolates. Additional groups, AG-2-2, AG-3, AG-4, AG-5 and isolates with binucleate hyphal cells were also found, but less frequently. The AG-1 isolates were the most pathogenic to maize and are considered to be the main agents of sheath blight.
