Assessment of losses due to important insect pests of cotton in the Punjab

Agricultural Science Digest, India 7(2): 115-118

Losses in cotton yield due to sucking pests (including the cicadellid Amrasca biguttula biguttula and the aleyrodid Bemisia tabaci) and bollworms (including the gelechiid Pectinophora gossypiella and the noctuids Earias spp. and Heliothis armigera were studied in the Punjab, India, during 1983-84 and 1984-85. The highest mean yield (16.69 q/ha) was recorded when both pest groups were controlled with insecticides.
