Association analysis for some quantitative traits in forage sorghum

Phenotypic Correlation coefficients were computed in 48 genotypes of forage sorghum. Both fodder yeild and dry matter had high positive association between them and were positively associated with leaf length and breadth, stem girth, leaves per plant, leaf weight and stem weight. Plant height and leaf breadth also had positive association with dry fodder yield. Stem girth, leaf weight and stem weight showed close association among themselves. Selection based on higher number of broad leaves with more height of plants is suggested for selection for higher dry matter yielding plants in forage sorghum.
