A fully automatic milking system (AMS) developed in the Netherlands is described. The AMS performs all the functions of milking including: washing teats, connection of the cluster, checking quality of milk and monitoring health of cows, measuring milk yield, removal of cluster when milk flow ceases and cleaning milking unit between cows. Use of the milking module results in 4-5 milkings a day and higher milk yields, with very low milk somatic cell counts.
