Field studies were conducted in semi-arid savanna in Kenya to investigate the behavioural strategies used by foragers of Macrotermes michaelseni to avoid predation by ants, especially Megaponera foetans. Termites foraged under cover wherever possible, and foraging groups were small. Distances travelled outside permanent structures were short.
