Biochemical evaluation of varieties of spring swede rape and turnip rape grown in western Siberia

From a study of 7 swede rape and 4 turnip rape varieties during 1984-86, data are presented on yield and on content of protein, oil, glucosinolates, 6 fatty acids and 15 amino acids (plus total content of essential amino acids). High protein quality was shown by the swede rapes Salput, Karat and Zolotonivskii, in which total amino acid content was 13.6, 13.4 and 13.7 g/100 g seeds, respectively, and glucosinolate content did not exceed 2.5, 3.4 and 4.6%.
